A severe thunderstorm packing large hail and damaging winds forecast to pass through Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Hawkesbury, and Dubbo today hit some areas in the southern highlands and parts of the city.
The thunderstorm developed over the ranges and was forecast to bring damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall to Sutherland, Richmond, Glenorie, Horsley Park, Liverpool and Riverstone, as well as Hornsby, Bankstown, Fairfield, Maroota, Terrey Hills and Wisemans Ferry.
An update from the Bureau of Meteorology at 5.25pm said severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Blaxland, Springwood, Badgerys Creek, Leppington, Londonderry and Penrith.
