The first flight of Skywhalepapa has been pushed back a day to avoid the unsuitable weather forecast at the weekend. Patricia Piccinini’s hot air balloon sculpture was scheduled to have its world premiere flight in Canberra on Saturday alongside its companion Skywhale, but it will now take place on Sunday. The National Gallery said all other event details are the same and ticketholders do not need to register to attend on Sunday if they already have a ticket. No extra tickets would be released for Sunday. The gallery said the Sunday flight was also weather dependent and ticket holders would receive an email no later than 4am with event information. The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast rainy weather with the chance of thunderstorms on Saturday morning and afternoon. A mostly sunny morning has been forecast for Sunday, with a slight chance of a shower in the evening.
