After Micah came out bravely to deny the oncoming Emily Gielnik, there was little she could do about the opening goal, which came midway through the first half from a corner when Brisbane’s Matildas defender Clare Polkinghorne headed home.
The Roar doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark when City defender Samantha Johnson handled a shot from Tameka Yallop to concede a penalty. Gielnik stepped up to make it 2-0.
The floodgates then threatened to open. Micah kept out Gielnik’s 32nd-minute effort before City hit back, Chinatsu Kira forcing Roar keeper Georgina Worth to match Micah with a good save.
City almost conjured something out of nothing just before the break when Dobson drove towards goal and unleashed a long-range drive which struck the crossbar.

Sharn Freier could have made it three soon after but once again Roar found Micah too big a barrier to beat.
Brisbane’s profligacy threatened to haunt them when City got back into the game just after the restart, Alex Chidiac’s 46th-minute shot taking a big deflection before beating Worth.
Micah was again the hero with 25 minutes remaining, standing up to deflect a Yallop shot.
City then levelled from the penalty in the 73rd minute, Sam Johnson converting from the spot.
Equality did not last long, however, as Roar struck back almost immediately, Hecher firing in a fierce angled shot which not even Micah could stop to ensure the points for the visitors.
