The Bureau of Meteorology has put out a severe weather warning for damaging winds for the southern parts of the ACT and southern NSW A trough and cold front are bringing vigorous northwesterly winds in the ACT and Southern NSW. The conditions will ease later Monday as the system moves north, according to the warning issue at 10.35am Monday. In areas above 1900 metres, winds are expected to average 80 to 100km/h. Meanwhile in areas below 1900 metres, winds are slightly less severe, averaging 60 to 70km/h. Canberra reached a top of 28 degrees on Monday morning. There was a slight chance of rain and a potential thunderstorm later in the afternoon. Tuesday was forecast to be sunny and dry with light winds, and temperatures were expected to reach a top of 24 after a low of 9. Wednesday was expected to be partially cloudy and mild, and temperatures were expected to hit 25 with a low of 10. Thursday should be sunny with a top of 29 degrees and a minimum of 10. Friday is expected to be partially cloudy and is likely to reach 31 degrees, with a minimum of 15. The weekend is likely to cool down. Forecasts are for Saturday to reach 25 degrees, with a minimum of 12. Sunday is forecast to be wet with a 60 per cent chance of rain. Sunday is expected to reach a top of 26 degrees with a minimum of 13 degrees.
