Police have made multiple arrests after hundreds of anti-vaccination protesters gathered in South Yarra’s Fawkner Park on Saturday to voice COVID-19 conspiracies and demonstrate against a vaccination rollout they have interpreted to be mandatory.
As Australia prepares to roll out the first round of vaccinations on Monday, anti-vaccination protesters converged in capital cities and regional towns across the nation.

Organisers said they stood against “mandatory COVID vaccinations”.
The Federal Government has repeatedly said no one would be forced to be vaccinated. However, employers at high-risk locations, such as aged care homes, may be able to compel vaccinations under existing laws that allow businesses to issue reasonable directions to their staff.
