Over the weekend the Therapeutic Goods Administration approved the locally manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine for distribution in Australia.

However, each batch will still require individual approval from the TGA before it can be rolled out to the general public.

The internationally manufactured AstraZeneca vaccine received prior approval, with the same checks applied to local Australian jab which will be produced by biopharmaceutical company CSL.

With the domestic vaccine now approved the federal government and state governments should be able to fast-track the rollout.
