news, latest-news,

If you’re after a good read, some hope in the face of despair and maybe even a last-minute stocking filler, you can’t go by Ten Journeys on a Fragile Planet by Canberra author Rod Taylor. In 2017, Rod threw in his IT consulting job to write the book, which features the stories of Australians “doing something to confront the perilous state of the environment”. The journeys in the book are: The Activist: Simon Sheikh The Solar Pioneer: Professor Andrew Blakers The Maggot Farmer: Olympia Yarger The Accidental Activist: Charlie Prell The Thoughtful Salesman: Leonard Cohen The Politician: Susan Jeanes The Climate Game Changer: Inez Harker-Schuch The Advocate: Professor Kate Auty The Lady with a Laser: Monica Oliphant A Question of Hope: Dr Siwan Lovett Rod said the people in the book “make you rethink what is actually possible”. “While the backdrop is climate change, it’s really a book about people, what makes them tick, why they are heroes and what does it mean to have ‘hope’,” he said.
