Odds & Evens: Split.

Race 2 – 2:35PM SIDCON CONSTRUCTIONS PLATE (1100 METRES)

3. Free State ran a couple of respectable races in his two starts back in the winter on wet tracks and has been gelded. He hasn’t exactly starred in his two trials but he’s done enough and has struck a very winnable race first-up. Expecting him to be hard to beat.

Dangers: 9. Spanish Pearl produced her best effort in four starts to date when leading at Hawkesbury and holding on okay late for third. Likely to look to lead again, or be right there, and around this tighter track could give some cheek. 2. Pumbaa Rua showed some determination late on debut to claim third at this track at $31 and is an interesting runner here. Back 100m but drawn a kinder gate and if that effort wasn’t a one-off then he can be a bit harder to beat this time. 10. Military Mama was a big drifter on debut in a 900m scamper here and wasn’t beaten far in fourth. Wide gate a minus for her here but it was a promising enough debut to suggest she could find herself in the placings.

How to play it: Free State win; trifecta 3/2,9,10/2,9,10.

Odds & Evens: Odds.

Race 3 – 3:10PM GOSFORD IT HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

1. Rejinksy is a short-riced favourite but rightly so after a very easy first-up win at Taree where he dominated from the front and raced right away. There is a bit of pace drawn underneath him here but he’s versatile enough to take a trail if needed and is clearly the one they have to topple.

Dangers: 5. Private Eye may find the 1100m a touch slick around here but look out if they overdo it up front and it suits a swooper. He was okay on debut at Wyong then far too strong on a heavy track at Kembla before a spell. Keep safe. 4. Tapiconic appears to need a similar scenario to be competitive at the trip given he stretched out to a mile at the end of last prep. Against that he’s in a new stable and won’t do any work from barrier two. A win won’t shock but an eye-catching first-up run is more likely. 2. Dawn Too Good has won both his races from the front so that would appear his best chance of a first-up win. Nice trial winner at Rosehill then a bit quieter on the synthetic at his second. Can show up in the right circumstances.

How to play it: Rejinsky win; trifecta 1/ 2,4,5/2,4,5.

Odds & Evens: Odds.

Race 4 – 3:45PM CHAPMAN & FRAZER HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

1. Ruddock took control early at Canterbury third-up and raced right away to an easy maiden win. The runner-up then won at his next start to confirm the form. Drawn wide but imagine he will go forward and there looks few potential competitors for a spot up on the speed. If that’s the case he’s hard to go past.

Dangers: 8. Salamangkera attacked the line with great purpose to finish second at Port Macquarie at her second run back. Likely gets back here but also wouldn’t shock if she follows the favourite over to a spot closer to the pace, which there doesn’t look a whole lot of. Each-way. 3. Command King won nicely on debut at Goulburn then battled a bit but not disgraced when up in class at Hawkesbury two weeks ago. If he can hold that form, or improve off it, he can be in the placings again. 5. Noble Cause ran a game race at Newcastle first-up then had excuses when midfield at Port Macquarie. Fitter now and drawn well so expect him to be in the first four in running and that would give him a shot.

How to play it: Ruddock win; trifecta 1/ 3,5,8/3,5,8.

Odds & Evens: Split.

Race 5 – 4:20PM AUBREY BROWN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

4. Ready To Soar is in super form at the moment, backing up an easy first-up win here on a heavy track with a similarly strong effort on good ground up to 1200m. Not a lot harder here and she’ll go forward again and make her own luck. No reason she can’t be in the finish again.

Dangers: 11. Mosht Up hasn’t won for a while but she’s coming off a strong finishing effort at Wyong in a good quality field two weeks ago. Drawn to have every chance and she is a good each-way hope at least. 6. Thinking Cap did a good job to win first-up over this course, ducking and weaving through before looking to score fairly softly on the line. Skips a grade but on the way up and has gate one. Capable of being competitive. 9. Reverse enjoyed a good run in a small field and proved far too strong in breaking through first-up at Wyong. Different task from the outside gate here but hard to know her level yet to rather be including than dismissing.

How to play it: Ready To Soar each way.

Odds & Evens: Split.

Race 6 – 4:55PM SKY RACING SUMMER PROVINCIAL SERIES HEAT 3 (1600 METRES)

8. Knight produced a huge effort when holding on for third in fast time at Kembla on Gong day. He engaged in a speed battle and was very game as he battled away while his sparring partner dropped out. On the way up and with that little bit of luck in running can atone.

Dangers: 1. Oakfield Captain looks the one over the odds after a total forgive run second-up at Hawkesbury where he was right in the market. Tracked wide throughout there and was beaten less than three lengths. Drawn nicely and more than capable of winning. 3. New Tycoon was dominant in winning over this course two runs back on a soft 7 then tried hard when edged out late at Rosehill in midweek company. Little more depth here but is racing well and hard to ignore. 10. Joigny caught the eye late in a strong race first-up at Newcastle as she ran on from well back into fifth behind Great News. Loves the mile and is always competitive. Will just need the luck given she’s drawn the outside and will likely go back.

How to play it: Knight win; trifecta 8/1,3,10/1,3,10.

Odds & Evens: Split.
