A woman is in a serious condition in hospital after she was allegedly struck with a meat cleaver in what police described as a domestic violence-related assault in Sydney early on Christmas morning.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested at an apartment in Westmead following the attack on the 48-year-old woman.
Police said emergency services were called to an apartment block on Parkside Lane after a neighbour heard the older woman’s cries for help and entered her apartment.
The neighbour was chased outside by the teenager who was allegedly armed with a meat cleaver, police said.
Another witness found the older woman in the garden a short time later suffering from multiple injuries.
