Health authorities are urging people in some regional and rural areas of NSW to be on alert for coronavirus after an 18-year-old tested positive following a camping trip.

Acting Premier John Barilaro on Tuesday announced eight new cases of coronavirus in NSW, including four locally-acquired infections.

Two of the locally-acquired infections were previously flagged on Monday but have been counted in Tuesday’s numbers.

The four cases recorded to 8pm on Monday include two in the Berala BWS cluster, taking it to a total of 15.

The others include a household contact of a Croydon case and another case under investigation that is likely to be linked to the Berala cluster.

Three regional communities are on alert after an 18-year-old Berala man travelled through Orange, Nyngan and Broken Hill on a camping trip, then tested positive.

His case was identified on Tuesday morning, after Monday night’s cut-off, and will be included in Wednesday’s official count, Mr Barilaro said.

People from Nyngan, Orange and Broken Hill are being urged to get tested.

Four new cases have also been recorded in hotel quarantine.

More to come.
